School Improvement Plan

West Calder High School has a sustained focus on improving educational outcomes for all our young people. This is underpinned by effective improvement priorities which are detailed in our School Improvement Plan (SIP)

Our School Improvement Plan focuses on equity and continuous improvement, with recent priorities including

• Equity and diversity

  The school aims to ensure all learners make very good progress, with specific supports and strategies in place for those who are struggling. 

• Tackling barriers to engagement in learning for all

  Supporting learners to improve their understanding and attainment in all subjects is a high priority. 

• Reduce the gender attainment gap

  The school implements strategies for consistent improvement in learning, teaching, and assessment. 

• Improve outcomes and attainment for all learners:

  The focus is on recognizing, supporting, and celebrating pupil achievement and attainment across the curriculum. 

• Improve pupil understanding of learning and teaching, including PACED

  Making pupils more aware of our teaching policy and the standards they can expect in every classroom.
