Headteacher's Welcome
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the West Calder High School website and to thank you for your interest in our school. The school website is designed to provide key information to our pupils, parents/ carers, the wider community and any online visitors. Please take your time to browse through the information and feel free to contact our school if you have any questions or for further details.
At West Calder High School, we care about the experiences of our young people and we believe that school should be a safe, fun and exciting place for every child to flourish. We set high standards for our pupils and through our school value of Ambition, we believe that there should be no limits to the goals of our young people and the expectations of their parents and carers. We believe we have the responsibility to provide an inclusive, nurturing and creative environment which provides every young person the opportunity to succeed. Every young person has the potential to attain and achieve and we will work together with pupils, families and partners to provide the supports to make this possible.
Our move to our state of the art building has helped transform learning and teaching at West Calder High School and we are very excited about the next stage of building development, with our new extension due to open in August 2025. This allows our school to be at it's vibrant best and we are proud of the experiences on show daily through our curriculum, sports, music, charities, outdoor learning and much more.
The areas our school serves are proud of the achievements of West Calder High in recent years and we are working collaboratively with partners to ensure the school remains very much the hub of the community. We have this year had official recognition of our charity organisation 'West Calder Cares' and we are excited to grow the opportunities this will bring.
We are proud of the achievements of our young people and staff. We shout about this on a regular basis through Facebook, X and our Snippets (Newsletter published weekly). Please follow us for more information and get in touch!
We look forward to hearing from you and working together!
Mr Higgins
