Sustrans Gold Award
At West Calder we actively encourage our young people to think about different ways they can get to school. By actively travelling to school young people become more active, have a healthier lifestyle aswell as improve their confidence, learning and their achievement. By choosing active travel, young people are helping to reduce their carbon footprint which helps reduce congestion on the roads and pollution at the school gates.
West Calder High School was awarded the 'Sustrans Gold School Mark (opens new window)' in 2014/15. This award is 'Awarded to a school that has demonstrated ongoing commitment to promoting active and sustainable travel over several years, which has led to significant and lasting organisational, cultural and behavioural changes'.
