HGIOS 4
HGIOS 4 is a national framework that helps schools evaluate their practice using evidence and feedback to continuously improve learning, teaching and outcomes for all pupils.
At WCHS we are committed to continuously improving the education and support we provide for all children. To guide this, we use the national How Good Is Our School? (HGIOS 4) framework from Education Scotland.
This helps us regularly reflect on our work by asking three key questions: How are we doing? How do we know? What will we do next? By using evidence such as pupil progress, feedback from parents and learners, and classroom observations, we ensure our decisions are focused on improving outcomes for every child.
We focus on three main areas:
- Strong leadership
- High-quality learning and teaching
- Ensuring the best possible achievements for our pupils.
Working together with families, partners and the wider community is central to this process. A key priority is ensuring all children feel included, supported and able to succeed. We are particularly focused on promoting wellbeing, equality and closing the attainment gap so that every learner reaches their full potential.
Through this ongoing approach to self-evaluation and improvement, we aim to provide engaging learning experiences and prepare our children with the skills they need for life, learning and work. Using HGIOS 4 helps us maintain high standards and continue improving over time. We carefully track children's progress and evaluate the impact of our work, making changes where needed to ensure the best outcomes for all learners.
Ultimately, our goal is to create a school environment where every child feels valued, supported and inspired to achieve their best.
